Yolo County uses various alerting tools and communication methods to provide official information before, during, and after emergencies. This information is vital in helping residents make important safety decisions and take timely protective actions, such as evacuations and sheltering in place.
Emergency officials use the Yolo Alert Emergency Notification System to deliver incident-specific information that is critical and time-sensitive, such as:
- Flooding, levee failures, severe weather, disaster events, unexpected road closures, evacuations, public safety concerns, or other emergency situations.

You can sign up using your cell phone if you prefer not to share personal information. Text YOLO to 888-777 to join, and reply STOP to cancel. Message and data rates may apply.
Please note that alerts sent via SMS may not be delivered if your mobile phone is not within the range of a transmission site or if there is insufficient network capacity at a particular time. Even within a coverage area, factors beyond the control of the wireless carrier may interfere with message delivery, including the customer’s equipment, terrain, proximity to buildings, foliage, and weather. The wireless carrier does not guarantee that alerts will be delivered and will not be liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Who Issues Alerts & Warnings
Yolo County, Davis, West Sacramento, Woodland, Winters, and Yocha DeHe Wintun Nation are all part of Yolo-Alert. Each agency is responsible for sending alerts and warnings to its residents, what that means is the County issues alerts and warnings to the unincorporated areas, while the City of Woodland would issue alerts and warnings to residents of Woodland.
