Humboldt Transit Authority Bus drivers will be notified when the Extreme Weather Shelter & Warming Stations are open and will be providing free rides to those locations.


ALERT 2/17/26: Severe Weather. Based on NWS Eureka predictions for low temperatures with dew points below freezing and heavy rain through Wednesday, AHP will activate Emergency Overnight Shelter today, February 17th.
Check-in for overnight sheltering will be available from 10 - 2pm. Space is limited. Individuals, couples, families, and non-aggressive pets are welcome.

Arcata –Overnight Shelter & warming center OPEN offering day services only

OPEN- ALERT 02/17/2026:Severe Weather. Individuals, couples, families, and non-aggressive pets are welcome. HTA has been notified. Bus transportation will be free today to anyone seeking respite from the weather. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Kitchen assistance 10am-2pm, 2pm-6pm

Opening Guidelines:

The Arcata House Partnership (AHP) emergency warming center will be activated when any of the following is predicted:

Temperatures at or below 34 degrees
Temperatures at or below 36 degrees when rain is expected
Wind speeds more than 30 mph or winds that create a wind chill factor of 34 degrees
One inch or more of rain and or multiple days of rain.
If one of the above guidelines is anticipated, and there is adequate staffing, the warming center will open.

02/03/2025 -02/04/2025 The Eureka Warming Center is activating Again tonight. 02/04/2025, the upcoming weather event meets the Eureka emergency weather overnight center activation thresholds.

Guests are not to arrive directly at the warming center location. They must meet at a pickup location: Free Meal 6pm; Sacco Ampitheater @ 6:30pm; Hope Center @ 7pm; 14th and Koster @ 7:30pm.Transportation will be provided. Pets Welcome


Opening Guidelines:

The City of Eureka emergency warming overnight center will be activated when any of the following is predicted:

Temperatures at or below 33 degrees
Wind speeds in excess of 40 mph or winds that create a wind chill factor of 33 degrees
One inch or more of rain between 4 p.m. and 4 a.m.
If one of the above guidelines is anticipated, and there is adequate staffing, the warming center will open.
Individuals seeking access to the program will be directed to one of four pick-up sites for transportation to the warming center site:

SOUTHERN HUMBOLDT

Closed -Opening Guidelines:

The Redway Baptist Church warming day center will be activated when any of the following is predicted:

Temperatures at or below 34 degrees

Temperatures at or below 36 degrees when rain is expected

Wind speeds more than 30 mph or winds that create a wind chill factor of 34 degrees

One inch or more of rain and or multiple days of rain.

If one of the above guidelines is anticipated, and there is adequate staffing, the warming center will open.

Individuals seeking respite will be directed to Redway Baptist Church, 1055 Redway Drive, Redway. The warming center will operate from 7 to 11 a.m. as weather indicates.

The church is open Tuesdays from noon to 3 p.m. for its “Bridging the Gap” services program where individuals can come in and enjoy a hot meal and leave with toiletries and items from the food pantry.

Transportation:

When the warming center is open, volunteers in a church van and/or SoHum Housing Opportunities van will drive around to areas where people needing shelter are known to congregate, pick them up and bring them to the church.
