Works to protect life, property, and natural resources in Siskiyou County. Works in cooperation with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Services include (and are not limited to):

- Wildland fire suppression
- Response to hazardous materials incidents
- Search and rescue
- Water rescue
- Vehicle extrication
- Basic life support medical services
- Campfire permits
- Christmas tree permits
- Educational materials.

Residents who wish to burn yard debris must follow any requirements for burn permits and burn restrictions in their area. For burning in Siskiyou County, one can call the Siskiyou County Air Pollution Control District or visit their website (listed below next to Burn Days). For Burn Permits within city limits, one can contact their local city fire department.
