Description
|
Provides a variety of support programs for families and individuals. Offers a safe and comfortable environment and large play area. Services include: - Food Pantry: Provides emergency food and food pantry for those in need. May be used once per month.
- Weekly playgroup for ages birth to five and their parents
- Parenting classes to enhance parenting practices and behaviors
- Mental health stigma reduction activities and referrals to mental health services
- Food assistance, nutritional outreach and WIC at site
- Application help with:
- Energy Assistance (home heating - electric, propane or wood) with GNS (Great Northern Services)
- Housing and financial assistance for anyone experiencing homelessness
- CalFresh (food)
- Medi-Cal (health insurance).
- Help with linking to services such as senior assistance, Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), Early Head Start, and AA/NA.
- Season vegetable gardening class for children and adults
- Lending library with books for all ages
- Kindergarten readiness for children ages 0-5
- Distributes free books to preschools monthly, and distributes these books on-site as well
- Youth Projects - Girls Circle - in local schools
- Work placement and job training for seniors
- Computer lab along with copying and faxing services (for a fee, and free to Health and Human Services or GNS)
- Free events throughout the year (posted on Facebook)
- Dunsmuir Community Garden.
During a Disaster event: Helps one find resources and advocates for clients by contacting churches. May find volunteer to be a driver in individual cases.
