Provides Public Guardian, Conservator, and Public Administrator services in Siskiyou County.
Public Guardian/Conservator (PG/PC): - Protects and cares for those unable to provide for personal or financial needs alone.
- Works to ensure people can live safely through a process called "conservatorship."
- Provides support with housing, hospitalization, medical care, and psychiatric treatment.
- Public Guardian acts as a conservator when no other conservator is available.
Public Administrator (PA): - Administers the estates of persons who die with no will or without an administrator. The PA's primary duties are to:
- Protect the decedent's property from waste, loss or theft
- Make appropriate burial arrangements
- Conduct thorough investigations to discover all assets
- Liquidate assets at public sale or distribute assets to heirs
- Pay the decedent's bills and taxes
- Locate persons entitled to inherit from the estate.
