Description
Recruits foster families to care for children who come through Child Protective Services. These children are dependents of the court, or voluntarily placed by their parents. Sibling groups stay together whenever possible.
Many types of people qualify to be foster families, including:
- Families with children
- Childless couples
- Single people
- Retirees.
The commitment ranges from a few weeks to several months or more. Foster parents receive money to help pay for the child’s living expenses. Medical care is covered by Medi-Cal. Provides training and support for foster parents.
Foster parents can also choose to adopt.
