Description
On the Time-of-Day (5 pm - 8 pm) Rate, you pay different rates for electricity based on the season and the time of day that you use it.
Summer: From June 1 through September 30, there are three time periods on SMUD’s Time-of-Day Rate: off-peak, mid-peak, and peak. Off-peak hours are midnight to noon, Monday through Friday, and all day on weekends and holidays. Mid-peak hours are noon to 5 pm and 8 pm to midnight and peak hours are 5 pm to 8 pm, Monday through Friday.
Non-summer: From October 1 through May 31, there are two time periods: off-peak and peak. Off-peak hours are all day, every day–except during the peak hours of 5 pm to 8 pm, Monday through Friday only. All hours on weekends and holidays are off-peak.
Consider doing household chores like laundry or running your dishwasher before noon or after midnight on weekdays to take advantage of the lowest summer off-peak rates. Or schedule chores for any time on weekends and holidays when all hours are at the lowest off-peak price.
