CalFresh, formerly known as Food Stamps and known federally as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), provides extra funds to help those who are in need each month to buy groceries.

With a CalFresh electronic “debit” card (known as EBT) you can buy most foods at many food stores and farmers markets.

Californians can visit BenefitsCal.com or GetCalFresh.org to apply or call 877-847-3663 (FOOD) to be connected to their local county social service office.

ebtEDGE

The ebtEDGE application provides EBT cardholders with increased card/account management tools. It can be downloaded from the app store, or accessed via a web browser.

Program Delivery
Eligibility: No restrictions. Adults Teens Children Families Females Males
Languages: English, Spanish, and Russian speaking staff. Other languages are offered through translation service.
Application Process: Apply online, over phone, or in-person. An Eligibility Specialist will interview customers over the phone or in-person. --- Application for CalFresh includes completing eligibility questions including forms and an interview with a specialist. Benefits cannot begin until all conditions of eligibility have been verified. The County has up to 30 days to approve or deny the claimant’s application. If certain criteria are met families and individuals may be eligible for expedited service and receive benefits within three days of applying.
