Description
Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT): Provides transportation to individuals who need assistance getting to and from medical appointments. Driver provides help to individuals with physical or mental disability who cannot get to appointments on their own. Utilizes specialized vehicles such as ambulance, litter van, wheelchair van, or air transport.

Non-Medical Transportation (NMT): Offers individuals transportation to their medical appointments for Medi-Cal covered services. Services include:
  • Medical, dental and mental health services
  • Substance use disorder services
  • Support group meetings

NMT is only available if individuals are:

  • Traveling to and from an appointment for a Medi-Cal-covered service.
  • Picking up prescriptions and medical supplies.
  • Unable to get other transportation.


During a PSPS event services will operate as normal

Program Delivery
Eligibility: Must be a Medi-Cal covered Gold Coast Health Plan member.
Must need transportation to a Medi-Cal covered appointment. Call Member Services to verify covered services.
Languages: Spanish, English
Application Process: Request a ride through medical provider and receive their written consent. Provider will prescribe the best transportation method for medical condition. Once provider has given written approval, call to schedule a ride at least two days before medical appointment.
