Description

Provides case management and support to assist individuals and families who are currently homeless or are at risk of homelessness. Homelessness is defined as: sleeping in a place not meant for human habitation; sleeping in an emergency shelter; fleeing domestic violence, while at risk of homelessness is defined as imminently losing housing within the next 21 days.

Eligible applicants may receive various types of assistance, including:

  • Homeless prevention rental payment
  • Rental deposit & short-term rental payments
  • Credit counseling
  • Utility deposits & utility payment
  • Moving and storage costs
  • Follow-up visits with a case manager

Program Delivery
Eligibility: Must:
-Be homeless or facing eviction within 21 days. If individual is currently homeless, must have potential rental unit in mind when going through assessment
-Have a employment
-Meet income limits based on family size
-Have no other housing options or financial resources to find or keep housing
-Be a Ventura County resident and U.S. citizen, or qualified resident alien
-Have the financial ability to maintain housing after rental assistance is received
-Be in the county for at least 90 days
Languages: American Sign Language, Spanish, English
Application Process: Call to speak with a program representative to apply. Application process can take varying lengths of time depending on the complexity of the situation and on how quickly the required documents are provided.
NOTE: Applicants can only apply for this assistance once every 18 months.
Program Fees: No fee
Documents Required: -Certification of Homelessness document
-Proof of all income (such as pay stubs, Notice of Action for public benefits, Social Security notice)
-Proof of income/benefits and completed budget worksheet
-Document stating current address (such as a utility bill)
-Photo ID (for all adults in household)
-Social Security Card (for all household members)
